UNICEF Breakfast bonanza
On Friday 8th February, Silverhill held a 'Breakfast Bonanza' where children were invited to come in to school at 8:30am and have a croissant or ‘Pan au chocolat’ in exchange for a small donation to UNICEF. Lots of children jumped at the opportunity and had fun talking to friends while eating some scrumptious treats, whilst also raising awareness for children around the world who are sadly denied their right to an education which helps develop their personality, talents and abilities to the full.
Thank you to everyone who came and donated!

Science Week
On Friday 1st February Silverhill started 'Science Week', where all the children throughout the school had a week full of amazing science based learning, specifically focusing on the Arctic, Antarctic and global warming. The week began with a fascinating visit in school assembly from Dr Jen King, a polar scientist who had been on a recent expedition to The Arctic. Classes also had a workshops from a very knowledgeable Mr Collins, where they looked at jigsaw models of the polar regions, global warming experiments and were even able to try real clothing Scientists would wear to both Polar Regions! Mrs Smith helped us build our very own Polar ice burg and children all made a penguin pledge, to do their bit to help prevent global warming. Thank you to all the parents who came into school to see all the science work and well done to all the children for their enthusiasm!
Mr Collins is full of facts ind information....
Is that you in their Charlie? Hope you're keeping warm!

Rock Up in Red!
On Friday 1st February everyone in school (even the teachers!) dressed up in red, to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. The money we raised through the £1 donations will go towards vital research and supporting the individuals and families associated with heart transplants or heart disease. The children really enjoyed wearing red rather than their usual green and were very happy to be taking part.
In total we raised approximately £320!

Initial building works begins!
You might have noticed (or heard!) the builders starting some initial building work on Thursday as diggers and machinery moved in to start some investigative works before the main building starts.
How exciting!
